The Chambre des notaires du Québec, through its Notarial Studies Fund (NSF), financially supports collective initiatives that encourage the development of a vibrant and accessible legal society for the people of Quebec.

The Impact Projects component of the NSF’s General Financial Assistance Program is designed to support specific local, regional, and provincial initiatives that further the program’s objectives. It applies to developmental projects, i.e., projects that have growth potential or act as a catalyst for other initiatives, and projects that encourage stakeholder participation and synergy.
Funding is awarded based on merit and the availability of funds.
The General Financial Assistance Program, which applies to submitted applications, covers the following:
Access to justice: Providing ongoing training and information or education on dispute prevention and resolution along with insights into real-world applications.
Evolution of the law: Conducting research and developing or revisiting doctrines or models that focus on areas such as notarial practice, medical assistance in dying, legal hypothecs for construction, surrogate motherhood and other elements of ongoing reforms pertaining to personal and family law, estates, divided co-ownership, and the evolving mission of public officers as digital identities become the norm.
Any application for financial assistance submitted to the Notarial Studies Fund (NSF) of the Chambre des notaires must meet at least one of the NSF objectives stipulated in the Notaries Act:
Applications can be submitted at any time and are reviewed by the Corporate Social Responsibility and Innovation Department. Award decisions are made within 30 days of receiving a complete application.

Applications can be submitted at any time and are reviewed by the Financial Assistance Attribution Committee based on recommendations from the Corporate Social Responsibility and Innovation Department according to the following application deadlines:
2.Complete the online form (French only). This should only take 10 minutes. Provide the name of your organization, your contact information, and details on your project so we can create your account.
3.You will receive a link to a secure file transfer service so you can submit the application documents.
4.Upload the project documents to the secure file transfer service:
Financial statements for the most recently completed fiscal year;
Save the document as 3_états_financiers
Your organization’s annual budget;
Save the document as 4_budget_annuel
An organizational chart or brief bios of key people involved in the project;
Save the document as 5_organigramme or 5_sommaire_bio_collaborateurs
If the person signing the agreement is not a director listed with the Registraire des entreprises, please include a copy of the board resolution authorizing the person to represent your organization;
Save the document as 6_resolution_conseil_administration
If you are applying for $100,000 or more in funding, you must include your Attestation de Revenu Québec If you don’t have one yet, please provide proof of your request and submit the certificate once received;
Save the document as 7_attestation_revenu_québec
Feel free to include additional supporting documents with your application, such as letters of endorsement from individuals or organizations in the communities you serve, to illustrate the value of your work and the importance of your project.

The information you provide will be used to assess your application and manage the agreement if funding is awarded. Other Chambre departments or third parties may be consulted to confirm your eligibility. Your information may also be used or disclosed by the Chambre for the purpose of carrying out studies, conducting research, administering surveys or producing statistics. The information we collect can be accessed only by authorized individuals who require it in the performance of their duties.
Important: Expenses incurred prior to confirmation of funding are not eligible.
You will receive a draft agreement once the funding awards have been announced. The template is available below. You must sign the agreement for the funds to be released.
To receive support from the Chambre, you must adhere to the visibility and logo use guidelines for the Chambre’s Financial Assistance Program and to any special terms and conditions set out in the agreement.
The Chambre wishes to support its partners in areas where it has the expertise or resources to do so. That means identifying and developing new opportunities that serve to promote your project, potentially leading to a variety of initiatives, innovations, and improvements. We want to showcase your project’s work and your achievements on our platforms, and we encourage you to keep the lines of communication open with the Chambre so we can make that happen.
You must also provide reports at regular intervals depending on your project timeline, including a final report. A portion of the funding is paid when the Chambre approves your report. Be sure to use the latest version of the report template, available on the Chambre’s website.
The list of subsidized projects (French only) includes the allocation date, amount awarded, name of the organization, a brief description of the activities financed as well as the primary objective of the NSF met. The list is updated in the month following a meeting of the Financial Assistance Attribution Committee.
