Notaries participate in the Chambre des notaires’ many committees in order to contribute to their Order’s mandate and be involved in collective matters.
Statutory Committees
Conducts in-depth reviews and analyses of all applications for admission.
Investigates any failure to comply with the standards of ethics and professional conduct for directors and committee members.
Oversees the Order’s insurance activities, in particular the processing of claims.
Oversees the organization’s financial performance and gives advice on this subject.
Gives its opinion on decisions of the Syndic or Assistant Syndic on whether or not to lodge a complaint with the Disciplinary Council.
Examines claims filed with the Compensation Fund, determines their admissibility and renders decisions on admissible claims.
Implements the Order’s mandate to protect the public using an approach that combines prevention, collaboration and continuous improvement, while overseeing the practice of the profession.
Reviews matters relating to the quality of the professional training program leading to the notarial profession.
Hears applications for arbitration of notaries’ accounts for fees.
Oversees the professional training program, reviews requests for equivalencies and proposes processes that are fair, objective, impartial, transparent and efficient.
Provides investment advice and supervises the investment management of the various funds.
Non-statutory committees associated with the governance of the Order
Hears any complaint relating to ethical misconduct or any other violation of professional laws and regulations.

Provides the framework for and recommends the Chambre des notaires’ governance structure and gives its opinion on matters involving ethics.
Recommends the strategic directions and policies governing the Order’s human resources management.
Determines the guidelines concerning the skills required to practise the profession and proposes continuing education activities.
Approves, in whole or in part, or rejects applications for financial assistance filed by external applicants with the Notarial Studies Fund.
Recommends and assesses the appropriateness of draft practice guides, guidelines, legislation or professional regulations.
