The International Union of Notaries is an international non-governmental organization created to promote, coordinate and develop the role and activities of notaries around the world.
Founded on October 2, 1948 in Argentina, the International Union of Notaries now brings together national notarial bodies from 89 countries and states. The Chambre des notaires du Québec is proud to be among the founding members of this prestigious institution.
- Study law in the field of notarial activities and co-operate in working toward harmonization
- Study and systematize legislation on the notarial institution, considered as one of the guarantees of legal security and contractual freedom
- Harmonize international legislation and procedures
- Sharing concrete proposals with national legislators
- Exchanging experiences and studying ways to facilitate the circulation of documents and increase the probative value of acts at the international level
- Cooperating with international bodies to prepare agreements or directives within the framework of the European Economic Community in legal matters of notarial competence
- Organizing congresses held alternately in Europe and America
- Participating in various regional, national and international congresses
